On Wednesday at the NATO summit in Turkey, President Donald Trump said he thought his ceasefire with Iran was dead. Just hours later, he made sure it was.<\/p>\n

Sources told MS NOW that the president was in midair leaving Turkey on Air Force One when he basically redeclared war.\u00a0But the plane he was aboard wasn\u2019t the same Air Force One on which he left the United States.<\/p>\n

He had arrived in Turkey on his flying bribery palace, the luxury 747, \u201cgifted\u201d to him by the emir of Qatar. Trump showed it off to foreign leaders at the summit and beamed about it to the press. But when it came time to leave \u2014 and to bomb Iran again \u2014 that<\/em> plane departed without the president aboard.<\/p>\n

Instead, the president flew out on an older Air Force One from the existing U.S. fleet. On that flight, passengers were told to keep their window blinds closed.<\/p>\n

Trump tried to explain the change by telling reporters it was so his gifted jet, which has been repainted in the same color scheme as his private planes, could be shown off to service members on its way home. But when a reporter asked why passengers were told to keep the blinds down, Trump replied, \u201cWell yeah, because you\u2019re, you know, probably on a dangerous flight.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Trump tried to brush away such questions, two former national security officials familiar with the matter confirmed to MS NOW that the president switched planes over concerns his new Qatari air palace lacked the necessary security systems \u201cneeded to safely manage a rapidly escalating conflict with Iran.\u201d Specifically, according to a law enforcement official briefed on its capabilities, \u201cthe gifted plane lacks key military defenses of the original Air Force One, including the ability to refuel midair and missile-defense systems.\u201d<\/p>\n

Two other former security officials told MS NOW the new plane also lacks the command-and-control functions necessary, like secure communications, to serve as an airborne \u201csituation room.\u201d<\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth noting, as an aside, that The New York Times reported that as much as a billion dollars<\/em> may have been taken from the defense budget to retrofit Trump\u2019s new toy for service.<\/p>\n

So the president of the United States was flying around on a plane he got from Qatar \u2014 a plane he has said will go with him when he leaves office, a plane that doesn\u2019t have adequate missile defenses or secure communications and a plane that is not capable of refueling in midair \u2014 that he couldn\u2019t use anyway.<\/p>\n

Soliciting and then using that plane may have been one of the most reckless national security decisions ever, rivaled only by every other decision <\/em>Trump has made in the past four months to bring us to this point. Because, of course, we\u2019re back at war, and it\u2019s clear the president can\u2019t figure out how to end it.<\/p>\n

Remember last year, around this time? Trump did the thing he said no other president would do and bombed Iran. He said its nuclear sites were \u201ccompletely and fully obliterated\u201d: Problem solved.<\/p>\n

At the time, many of us knew that would not be the end.\u00a0<\/p>\n

And of course, it wasn\u2019t. Despite having said we destroyed its nuclear systems the last time, Trump launched a new<\/em> war against Iran in February.<\/p>\n

And then in April, he said the U.S. had \u201ccompletely destroyed\u201d Iran\u2019s military. However, the fighting continued. Problem not solved.<\/p>\n

Then Trump announced the U.S. and Iran had finally made peace and a new era would begin: Once again, problem solved!<\/p>\n

That was, until he threw out that ceasefire deal and restarted the war a few days ago.<\/p>\n

At every turn, Trump and his entourage have beaten their chests about how only they can solve a problem no one else before them could solve, and at every turn, that problem is revealed to be not solved.<\/em><\/p>\n

The administration is, unsurprisingly, incapable of actually solving the monstrous, idiotic problems it has created.<\/p>\n

So here we are again.\u00a0The ceasefire is over. How many more times will we go through with this? How many more people will die? How many more will suffer economic devastation?<\/p>\n
