Former President Barack Obama slammed President Donald Trump for obsessing over him while serving in the nation\u2019s highest office.<\/p>\n

\u201cI obviously, you know, have a room in his head. A suite in his head,\u201d Obama said an an episode of the podcast \u201cAll The Smoke,\u201d posted Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cLook, first of all, when I was president, the last thing I had time to do was worry about what somebody said, or what my predecessor did,\u201d Obama told the two hosts, former NBA players Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson. \u201cThey\u2019re gone. I\u2019ve got work to do.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump has a long history of publicly insulting the former president, often invoking Obama\u2019s middle name, Hussein.<\/p>\n

Trump has also heavily promoted the false and racist \u201cbirther\u201d conspiracy theory, which claimed that Obama was ineligible to serve as president because he was born in Kenya rather than the United States.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Trump drew criticism after sharing a racist artificial intelligence-generated video on his Truth Social account depicting the former president and former first lady Michelle Obama as apes. The video was later deleted, and Trump did not apologize.<\/p>\n

Before launching the war against Iran with Israel on Feb. 28, Trump repeatedly criticized the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the 2015 diplomatic agreement primarily negotiated by Obama that also limited Iran\u2019s nuclear capabilities in exchange for sweeping economic sanctions relief.<\/p>\n

More recently, Trump trashed the newly debuted Obama Presidential Center in Chicago as a \u201cvery unattractive building\u201d and \u201ctotal disaster,\u201d adding that when his presidential library opens, it will be \u201con time, on budget, best location in Miami.\u201d<\/p>\n

Without mentioning Trump by name, Obama criticized leaders who fixate on their predecessors, characterizing their priorities as misplaced.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you\u2019re doing the job right, everyday, you\u2019ve got five, ten things that are real hard. And you have to be constantly focused,\u201d Obama said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe idea that I\u2019d be worrying about somebody who came before and me trying to measure, \u2018What\u2019s he done today?\u2019 Constantly worrying about that is a strange thing to me. It shows me somebody who\u2019s not focused on the American people and the job they\u2019re supposed to do.\u201d<\/p>\n
